About Taryn
Taryn brings 10 years of experience at the intersection of climate investment, policy, and global affairs to Hua Nani Partners. As Director, she manages the State Funding Readiness Project (SFRP), which provides fast, free, and flexible technical assistance to help jurisdictions leverage federal climate investments. In this role, Taryn oversees strategy, operations, project management, budget management, and more.
Prior to joining HNP, Taryn was a project consultant at Climate Finance Advisors, member of WSP, where she supported clients on climate finance, strategy, and risk. She led the development of a filterable database of over 500 federal climate funding and financing opportunities nearing $1 trillion, identified strategies and best practices for climate adaptation and resilience, and provided recommendations to incorporate climate risk into disclosures. She also joined a deployment to deliver emergency power to critical facilities on Maui weeks after the August 2023 wildfires.
Taryn served as a political appointee at the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research under Governor Jerry Brown, where she coordinated a coalition of state and national governments in over 40 countries committed to deep emissions reductions, and Governor Newsom, where she supported the state’s response to catastrophic wildfire costs and recovery. She has also held roles with the World Resources Institute, Ceres Accelerator for Sustainable Capital Markets, and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth.
Taryn holds a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment and a certificate in Sustainability & Climate Risk by the Global Association of Risk Professionals. She is a Board Member at the Institute for Sustainable Communities and former Board Treasurer at Our Climate. Previously, she was a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, Clean Energy Leadership Institute Fellow, and Fulbright Scholar. She lives in Washington, DC, where she enjoys discovering new hiking trails, photographing nature, and baking berry pavlovas.
