About Lirio
Lirio has over three decades of experience in climate change policy, strategy, and program/project development. As a Senior Climate Strategist at Hua Nani, Lirio provides content expertise and advice on climate change strategies to HNP’s clients, primarily to state, local, and other non-state actors.
Lirio most recently staffed the state government of Hawai‘i’s Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission. She has worked in climate change policy — from the global UN COPs 24, 25, and 26, to local biodiesel production — to initiate and coordinate inter-departmental programs that addressed sector-wide climate change impacts in Hawai‘i. She was Governor David Ige’s Second Deputy Liaison to the U.S. Climate Alliance and co-chaired the working groups on Transportation and the Social Cost of Greenhouse Gases. Lirio is also an Adjunct Fellow at the East-West Center.
Lirio has a Master’s in Forest Resource Management from Duke University and a Master’s in International Relations from Columbia University.
She has recently moved back to Washington, D.C., and hopes to find a little time to do clay pigeon shooting, hiking, and tree identification in the beautiful native forests of the East.
